SOPRA ACQUIRES MENTOR London (08/11/99)... Sopra, one of the major players in European IT services, announced the acquisition of Mentor Computer Services Limited. Based in London and Birmingham, Mentor’s core-activity is System Integration in all the principal vertical markets. With over 150 employees, Mentor’s turnover neared £10 million for the year ending 31st July 1999. Pierre Pasquier, chairman of Sopra, said: “The acquisition is in line with Sopra’s European strategy of setting up direct operations dedicated to the distribution and support of its software packages, and of extending its System Integration presence in each of the main European countries”. The acquisition of Mentor followed that of IOS ATI and IOS RS, IT subsidiaries of the Vivendi group, in October 1999. Sopra now employs more than 4,000 staff generating a turnover close to 250 Million £. About Sopra Privately owned, and quoted on the monthly settlement market on the Bourse (Paris Stock Exchange), Sopra provides IT solutions tailored to the needs of key business sectors, drawing on 30 years' experience of software publishing and system integration. In addition, Sopra's expertise includes implementing new technologies, such as the Internet and intranets, new services (e-business, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management etc), and advanced applications, such as EAI (Enterprise Application Integration).
